  3. #43 Best Colleges in AmericaUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel HillChapel Hill, NC·4 Year·Rating 3.89 out of 5 2,678 reviewsOther: I attended UNC-CH from 1981-1985 and had the time of my life! From the general area to student life and the local area, I met life-long friends in the dorm, in class, in the spiritual and Christian campus fellowships, cultural groups, choirs, and even off-campus. The professors and department workers were accessible and easy to get along with. They were knowledgeable, caring and helpful. If I had to go back and choose again, I would definitely choose this same school. Up 'til my final year, I did not have summer school experience, so I chose to take a few summer school courses and stay on campus, just to see what it was like. Getting an A was even easier for me during the summer, and since the student population was smaller, we seemed even closer and got to know more people better. My only regret was not attending summer school earlier before my last summer.... 5. #52 Best Colleges in AmericaUniversity of MiamiCoral Gables, FL·4 Year·Rating 3.87 out of 5 3,089 reviewsSenior: I have had an excellent experience at the University of Miami. I started at the school during the Spring semester of my Freshamn year which made it a bit hard to meet people initially, but I found my people after only a few shorts weeks. I played club field hockey and joined a sorority, which made the adjustment easy. Academically, I find the school very challenging, but I believe I'm receiving an excellent education. I'm majoring in Health Sciences and this summer I'm working at a hospital as a nursing assistant. I feel well prepared thanks to some of the courses I've taken at school. The one drawback for me was I only had the opportunity to live on campus for one semester. Housing is hard to secure, so I've had to live off campus which I would have ideally delayed until my junior or senior year. The campus is beautiful and I'm very happy. 6. #58 Best Colleges in AmericaTulane UniversityNew Orleans, LA·4 Year·Rating 3.77 out of 5 1,684 reviewsJunior: Tulane University is such an incredible place for so many reasons. Because it is not said enough, the quality of professors here is absolutely unbelievable. The campus is beautiful, the students are happy, and the weather is perfect, minus the rain. The academics are rigorous but manageable, leaving time to get involved in extracurriculars, explore New Orleans, or anything else you want to do. New Orleans is an amazing and fun city with so much to see! The class sizes, at least for me personally, have been so small, and the relationships I have built with my professors are so special. The social climate can be a bit tough to manage for introverts or for those who do not enjoy going out often, but once you find your niche it is a non-issue. The academics are super flexible, and I'm able to graduate early despite choosing to study abroad! The culture and the people here are truly special, and I urge anyone interested in Tulane to consider checking it out and applying!... When moving into the dorms freshman year, I was so scared of what it would be like. I was afraid of the change in environment and wasn't sure how well I would adjust to "college life." However, those fears quickly melted away when I was met with love and kindness from my dorm floor and class peers. My social experience at the UW has been incredible for my mental and emotional health, despite the "Seattle freeze" people were so concerned about. I have made lasting friendships with many people, learning incredible things about their lifestyles and personalities. And while some of my classes were difficult or may not have had the best instructors, far more had wonderfully sweet individuals who made my academic journey worthwhile. I am actually a transfer student and I was a little worried about coming in to a brand new school halfway through my freshman year. However, all of the amazing faculty at Ohio State made it super easy to transition to a new school. I was able to get involved with student organizations from day one of being on campus. I love how many different ways there are to get involved; there truly is something for everyone here. Since it is a larger school, it is a little more dependent on your own self to get involved and take advantage of all the things that are offered. I also love having the city of Columbus to take advantage of! There are so many things to do and it makes it super easy to get off campus. I also love how proud everyone is to be a Buckeye. 12. #79 Best Colleges in AmericaPurdue UniversityWest Lafayette, IN·4 Year·Rating 3.83 out of 5 5,164 reviewsAlum: Academically challenging school that heavily focuses on STEM majors. If you are in liberal arts, there is a nice community but it is small and not nearly as funded as the STEM programs. Campus is walkable filled with nice community spaces and plenty of libraries, cafes, and rooms to study and meet with classmates. A lot of school spirit centered around the athletics. Most people live off campus starting second year. The apartments in Chauncey Square are an excellent location and close to night life spots and restaurants. Campus is very diverse and there are many opportunities to join clubs and student groups. Purdue is only 1 or 2 hours away from two different international airports, and shuttle busses run nearly everyday between those airports and Purdue campus, making travel easier for international or out of state students. 19. #98 Best Colleges in AmericaRutgers University–New BrunswickPiscataway, NJ·4 Year·Rating 3.65 out of 5 6,142 reviewsAlum: During my years at Rutgers, I seized numerous chances at leadership and teaching thanks to the university's commitment to equal access. I spent time as Resident Life and volunteered at a local hospital, gaining experience beyond the classroom. The university's size may seem daunting, but its bus system makes navigating campus a breeze. Each campus has its own unique atmosphere, from the bustling city-esque College Avenue to the serene Douglass campus, complete with botanical gardens and farms. As someone from New York City, the "Knight Mover" service was one of my favorites; this service, available from 3am to 6am, ensured safe transportation for students–with no questions asked. My biggest regret was that not many students took advantage of this opportunity, whether it was because they simply didn’t know about it or because they didn’t like the small white pickup van. This can definitely be optimized: more vans, more awareness, and maybe students can volunteer to paint the vans!... 21. #107 Best Colleges in AmericaUniversity of Massachusetts AmherstAmherst, MA·4 Year·Rating 3.97 out of 5 5,538 reviewsSophom*ore: I really enjoy the social aspect of the University of Massachusetts. Since it’s such a big school, it’s an amazing way to meet new people and create great college experiences. Another positive is the food provided at Umass, as it is recognized as #1 in college dining. There is great variety and you can definitely get your moneys worth with the meal plan! The only negative I’ve found with the time I’ve spent at this university is the big classes. Of course this depends on your major, but majority of the classes at UMass consist of 200-300 people; very big lectures. It makes learning complex topics even harder and often times the professor push a lot of their responsibility onto the TA’s (student teaching assistants). While some times these extra help opportunities can be helpful, it’s hard to find the time to actually attend these sessions, especially when working a job or trying to balance other classes. I honestly did not know what to expect at first I had mixed feelings since I knew no one at Tech. During welcome week I grew familiar of the campus, fond of the people, and a sense of belonging and school pride. I loved my first year! I was able to study in multiple areas on campus, attend supplemental instruction and gain more practice and reaffirm me knowledge of the material in class. I found out the best way I retain material and what study habits worked best for me. Overall, I have only a few things I would change. I had a roomate issue which escalated and it was reported multiple times, but housing took a while to resolve the issue. Another thing I would like to see is a reinforcement in quiet hours in the dorm because at 2-4 in the morning the dorms were unusally loud on weekends and weekdays.... 26. #144 Best Colleges in AmericaUniversity of CincinnatiCincinnati, OH·4 Year·Rating 3.76 out of 5 4,174 reviewsSophom*ore: I love the amount of extra circular activities available at UC. There is something for everyone, no matter when you find your path. While I feel that it is intimidating to join one of these groups and I have not yet joined one, I plan to soon. One thing I would like to see a change in is housing. Off campus housing is so incredibly expensive and the dorms are not available for every student as they are overcrowded and most are dirty. It is hard to focus on school and activities when students are constantly worried about having to pay for housing or even having housing in general. Overall, UC is an amazing school and has so much future potential. I am very lucky to attend!...
