4.5 stars! Disclosure: I received this book free from the publisher/author. The opinions I have expressed are my own, and I was not required to write a positive review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255. Characters: Ranger and Noemi were both well-developed characters with plenty of flaws to make them realistic. Their backstories added to the plot, and I enjoyed seeing them grow as the book went on. Language: Maybe a not-so-reverent use of God's name. Moral/theme: This novel contained themes of God's love and trusting God. Both of these themes came into play more in the second half of the book. Plot: Susan May Warren's books normally have lots of action/adventure, suspense, and world travel. This one was no exception, and I loved it. Definitely a fast read! I did think Ranger wasn't as affected by his injuries as he should've been at some points, but that's a minor complaint. Romance: Clean. Just kissing. The characters did want to do more than kiss because there was that marriage-of-convenience plot. But I thought those parts were handled well, and they didn't make me uncomfortable. Writing: There's just something about Susan May Warren's writing that I really enjoy. Her style is laid back, smooth, and fast paced; but she's also great at describing the setting. She inspires me to keep improving my own writing style! Overall: Sunburst was an exciting read, and I'd recommend it to those who enjoy Christian fiction, romantic suspense, and action/adventure novels.

I am always so excited when I see Susan May Warren has a new book out and I can start reading it. I shouldn't be surprised I enjoyed it so much . But seriously this one just has to be her best yet! Pub Date 07 Jun 2022
Once I start reading a book by her everything else just disappears and it's total concentration on the book.
This is the second book in the Sky King Ranch series and I already feel as though I know all the personalities of the characters . This one is former Navy Seal Ranger Kingston, who is a lifelong bachelor and Nigerian woman Noemi Sutton's story.
Terrorist in Nigeria have Ranger's brother Colt hostage and as he attempts to rescue him he lays eyes on another hostage a beautiful woman from his past that he could never get out of his mind,Noemi.
Escaping from Nigeria with their lives intact will take every possible move this former Seal has learned. This book provides nonstop exciting action to get out of many perilous situations.
I really enjoyed learning about the Nigerian culture, foods, customs, languages and descriptions of the area .
So many , how can they get out of that situation moments.
With the danger Noemi has following her is it possible for their marriage of convenience to actually turn into the real thing before one of them gets hurt? Contains faith based messages that she weaves into all of her books.
Excellent! Highly Recommended!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book.

'Yeah well. I'm a SEAL. I live for trouble.'
I am always so happy when I hear Susan May Warren has a new book coming out. And ecstatic when I get my hands on it and settle into it. Because that's exactly what happens: I settle down deep and simply disappear into it. Completely.
Warren takes us into the second book of her Sky King Ranch series here and even further into danger as we dive into Ranger's part of the story. From the bush in Nigeria in a terrorist camp and an elaborate mansion to the spring in Alaska, we are treated to Warren's unmatchable style as she carries us along on a wave of a satisfying read that never fails to completely transport the reader to every setting.
And her spiritual thread, as always, is so powerful, and ministering to this reader. Warren will always remain one of my very favorite authors. Well done!
My thanks to Revell Books for a copy of this book. The opinion in this review is expressly my own.

This is another edgy story that we have come to expect from Susan May Warren. The second in the series about the Kingston family in Alaska, this is Ranger's story. There is a set of triplet boys and one sister. Navy SEAL and sniper, Ranger's life is the military. When his brother Colt gets ambushed as part of a security detail in Nigeria, he goes with a team to rescue the group captured. What he did not expect was to also see Noemi, a girl he met in Key West a few years ago. Ranger, Noemi, and another girl, Blessing, got separated from the rest of the group and what a time they had. Someone continues to pursue them but how did they find them 200 miles away? And then in Alaska. Filed with lots of action, danger, injuries, terrorist, romance, and family relationship issues, this is a great read with a faith thread interspersed. Great for romantic suspense readers.

I loved this story and did not want it to end. It is book two in the series and could probably be enjoyed on its own, especially during the sequences that take place in Africa. When the focus moves to Alaska, characters and situations from book one, Sunrise, are woven into the story, as well. This underlying Alaskan storyline continues from book one, through a bit of book two, and looks like it will conclude in book three. The Nigerian family and wedding scenes were full of heart, emotion, and some sweetly humorous moments! I loved the way Noemi’s family brought her back into their fold and the enthusiasm with which they planned and held the wedding. The chemistry between Ranger and Noemi was simply beautiful, while also highlighting that these two both carried broken hearts from their past time together. There were flashbacks to show what had happened between the two and help the reader feel an even deeper connection between them. And just as I was thinking that all these two would have to overcome were decisions made in the past, the author threw in a great twist that I didn’t see coming! It was perfect and I love when an author can surprise me with something like this. I loved this book from start to finish and I definitely agree with Dodge and Ranger that Nigerian weddings count! I loved the way that played out. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. You can read this review on my blog:

When a good book friend tells me to read a book, I pay attention, even though I'm behind in Susan May Warren's books. I did read the first one in this Sky Ranch series but I have gaping holes in previous books and some of those characters feature here in Ranger and Noemi's story. Not enough that I lost the plot, more like I felt a bit sulky because I've been missing out. lol If you like adventure notched up to the nth degree with an ex-Navy SEAL hero and an equally as tough heroine then Sunburst is definitely the book for you. Especially if you enjoy a side of toe-curling romance along with all that danger and intrigue! Oh, and you have to be a fan of having your tummy twisted into knots and your heart bludgeoned all in the name of true love. :-) And the situations Susan May Warren puts her characters through! These poor, tortured souls! I winced and groaned and gritted my teeth and reminded myself to b-r-e-a-t-h-e. Deliciously excruciating. Love the Kingston clan -- the brotherly antics, the way they have each other's back even after the hard things that have happened in the past. Mending broken relationships with a father who has never stopped praying for each one of his sons. And the wise counsel he shares at pivotal times. "You asked how I know everything is going to be okay. The answer is because every time my world gets darker, I see God more." An action-packed page-turner rich in culture and diversity...and humour! I forgot to mention the humour and how it crops up at the most surprising times. Lovely way to cut through some of that tension...and keep a reader off-balance 'cause she never knows what's coming next. The kind of reading experience that leaves you feeling bereft when it's finally over... Only it's really not over. Warren has included a sucker-punch of an epilogue that segues into Colt's story and it can't release fast enough for me!

"Sunburst" starts with major action and that is my favorite beginning. It mellows then the suspense is ramped back up. I give it high marks because I didn't want to put it down. My major beef with clean romance, no matter how good the plot or likable the characters, is that it is almost required that the hero and the heroine get stupid, really stupid, at some point in the plot, and they don't communicate. This is the second book in a trilogy that has an overarching mystery plot. We get a bit more information and a great set up for the last book. Former Navy SEAL, Ranger Kingston, is at loose ends after his separation from the Navy. When he finds out his brother, Colt, has been kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria, he is all in on the mission to rescue him and the others. Surprise, surprise one of the others turns out to be the one woman he could never forget, but he still has a duty to perform, and duty is what separated them before. Noemi Sutton Is in Nigeria as an aid worker when she and others come upon a village where everyone is dead from some illness. They are taken by a group they presume to be related to Boko Haram and their fate is dire. Ranger and his team perform a successful rescue, but Ranger and Noemi are separated from the others. On the run they seek refuge with Noemi's uncle where her family is overjoyed to see her and her "husband". But the danger follows them there too and back to Alaska as they try to figure out why Noemi is a target worth chasing across the world and if their marriage of convenience could turn into something real.

What a ride! In addition to the action, loved the details about Nigeria including Nigerian weddings. Fascinating! The author sets up book three nicely at the end. Many thanks to reader Susan for sending me a physical copy of the book. So kind!

“‘And hello, maybe you’re exactly where you are supposed to be….Maybe God used your issues to give you exactly what you wanted.’” To think, I had never read Susan May Warren prior to a couple years ago. Now, it is safe to say she probably my favorite author of the Christian romantic suspense genre. I could not wait to read Sunburst. As soon as I finished Sunrise, I wanted the next novel on my Kindle, as soon as possible. Typically, I’m fine with waiting for sequels, which may be surprising. Not with Warren’s books. I had high hopes for Sunburst. And from the moment I met Noemi, Susan May Warren had me—hook, line, and sinker. Noemi is a confident, stubborn, independent spitfire of a woman when she first meets Ranger Kingston. They hit it off, but fate rips them apart. It was fine, Noemi thought. I can’t get married, thought Ranger. The truth hurts. But neither accepted it, their memories of each other always whispering in their metaphorical ears. Then terrorists slam them together once more, and whispers turn to screams. Metaphorical ears change to literal. They are stuck in Nigeria, with their best means of protection being to pose as husband and wife. Which, though they both deny, becomes all too real for each of them. Ranger and Noemi want the wedding to be real, in every aspect of the word. But Ranger has his duties, and Noemi thinks she’s cursed. Everyone around her gets hurt, or worse, dies. She can’t let that happen to Ranger, so Noemi wants to disappear. She does not want anyone’s life ruined because of her. Both Ranger and Noemi resist the tug between them…the only question is…will sense get smacked into them before it is too late? Gosh darn it, I loved Sunburstby Susan May Warren. I keep thinking she can’t get better, but she always does. Suspenseful, yet heartwarming and comical. Complex—Warren reveals a subplot that clearly connects the three books together—yet easy to read. Fulfilling, with a powerful message, in typical Susan May Warren fashion. That is what I adore most about this author: Warren drops Christian truth bombs into her novels in a way that explodes warmth, comfort, and yes, sometimes conviction. But the bombs aren’t surprises. She portrays the messages of God in a sincere manner, without falling into the preaching that some authors do. I admit, sometimes I’ll skip the sermons in novels. Often times, they add little to the story, and I feel like they’re just…dropped in, because the writer wanted to ensure the novel checked the “Christian” box. Not Susan May Warren. I wouldn’t dream of skipping a word, much less a single sentence. Sunburst by Susan May Warren is everything a Christian romance novel should ever be—wholesome, funny, exciting, and Christ-filled. *Note: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher (and NetGalley!) in exchange for my honest review. All views expressed are my own.

There's nothing better than feeling completely satisfied when you finish a story. That's exactly how I felt when I finished this one! I really didn't want the adventure to end. I loved getting to know Ranger and Noemi better at the beginning of the story. Book two begins seamlessly from book one. We're dropped into Nigeria where Noemi is being held hostage. The author REALLY brings to life the country, the danger, and the beauty. The way Ranger and Noemi are reunited and their "adventure" they have as they flee to safety. Oh my gosh, the suspense of it all had me in a constant state of nail biting! Then, I forgot there was the mystery woman who showed up at the Ranch at the end of book one. It was interesting getting to "not" really know her at all. hahaha The author just builds the suspense on that end as well. There is a LOT going on in this story! It was SUPER interesting to me how all of the dots started coming together towards the end. Of course it has me dying to get my hands on book three, but also dreading that the series will be over. hahaha I also love how characters from other stories I've enjoyed by the author (as well as ones I haven't read yet) make appearances in this one. There were quite a few of the back and forth of Noemi and Ranger of "misunderstandings" of their relationship. You'll see what I mean once you read the story. I did kind of get to the point of "all right already", but could see how their past (and currently) that they'd struggle with knowing what's going on with each other. Trust me, read the story and you'll get it. I think Ranger and Noemi have become one of my all time favorite couples! *I was sent the book for review. This is my personal opinion.

4.5 stars "Noemi Sutton. The Master Chief's only daughter. A woman who nearly cost him everything." Yep. They had a history. And it was beautiful and short and fall in love-at-first-sight and then gone . . . . .like GONE. Done. Over. A mistake, he had called it. Except that when Noemi's life is on on the line, having been captured by Nigerian terrorists, who comes to her rescue (not intentionally you understand, but definitely providentially); Ranger Kingston. "You don't sort of get married, son." (Do Nigerian weddings even count?) So much story here. SO MUCH STORY. . . . told with an underlying passion and enough creative energy for two books, possibly even three, which for a seasoned author, was remarkably refreshing. True confession? I might have read the ending more than once. "I will find you."
"Well, hello, hello. Ranger Kingston, right here in the shadow of a kuka tree, deep in the heart of Nigeria. . . . . It was just like God to send her the man she hoped to never see again."

Sunburst is the second installment in the Sky King Ranch trilogy and follows Ranger and Naomi. There was a lot of action from the beginning and the plot was fast moving the whole time. Ranger and Naomi have to get married for reasons which shakes up their relationship. I liked the faith aspect the most. The characters were learning to trust and rely on God for their safety and dreams. I found that I didn’t connect with Ranger or Naomi. They were too stereotypical to me and their romance was cringey sometimes. The whole marriage thing felt forced and weird and I wasn’t a fan. This book set up the third one quite nicely which I’m not likely to read any time soon.
They cross paths in Africa during a Navy SEAL operation and end up taking cover together in her family’s palace.
Sad because I love this author but this series isn’t doing it for me.

4.5 stars. The rest of the stars are for SMW's characteristic chemistry, faith message, realistic men, and my inability to put the book down. And for the Nigerian culture and wedding. All of that was pretty awesome as I have African friends and also love Tope Omotosho's Nigerian books. I received a copy of this book from the publisher and JustReads Tours, but I was just asked to post on social media and a review was not required.
-.5 for my pet peeve of characters who end up abducted because of the lies they tell themselves.

Wow, what a suspenseful and wild ride! This is book 2 in the Sky King Ranch series and it was full of suspense, action, adventure, and romance all tied into one great read! 4.5 stars! This was SO close to 5 for me! This is the second Susan May Warren novel I have read, with book 1 in this series being the 1st. She is a new favorite author, and I can’t wait for the next book in the Series, Sundown, to release in November this year! Sunburst is the story of former Navy SEAL (and bachelor) Ranger Kingston and Noemi Sutton. While their relationship was short lived for 2 weeks in Florida and they didn’t expect to see each other again, what they go through in Nigeria brings them closer than close and realizing this is a relationship for the long haul. Ranger goes to Nigeria trying to save his brother Colt from terrorists, but quickly realizes Noemi was also taken hostage and everything takes off from there – trying to escape Nigeria alive. This book is so engaging for readers – it keeps you on the edge of your seat from the very beginning with the hostage situation all the way through trying to escape and even in the aftermath. The romance was very complex – we see glimpses of their 2 week relationship together and why they were no longer together. The only reasons I gave this 4.5 instead of 5: I was frustrated at times with the “will they” or “won’t they” thing. Additionally, I am not always a fan of the "just met, dated a couple weeks, falling in love" thing, but honestly, I forgave it because they literally went through SO much in Nigeria and afterwards that I see why they fell in love so fast. They are so protective and strong with each other - it's amazing. I also can’t leave out how amazing the setting and culture was in this story. The wedding, food, scenery and characters were all beautiful and full of depth. As far as Faith content, this has some great points. Both main characters struggle with their faith journey in a very realistic way and God continued to be with them throughout it all. I also LOVE the faith discussions at the end. The ending to this was also so STRONG! So much happened! I was turning pages so fast and on the edge of my seat and it ending on another cliffhanger -- dying for the next book! Thank you to Revell and NetGalley for providing a free advanced reader copy for me to honestly read and review. I am so grateful to have read this book and can't wait for the next one.

Actual rating: 4.75 (which I don't think I've ever given before.) Sunrise, book 1 of the Sky King Ranch trilogy, wrapped up well but also gave us a super compelling teaser for Sunburst. I had to immediately dig into Sunburst, and I loved it even more than the first book. Everything in this book happened at break-neck speed, but without sacrificing character development and backstory. This is the story of Ranger, the youngest of the Kingston triplets. He’s the most serious of the three, and knew from a very early age that he wanted to be a Navy SEAL. When our story begins, he and Dodge have gone to Nigeria to rescue Colt, their other triplet brother, who has been kidnapped by terrorists. Ranger is shocked to find Noemi, the woman he had a whirlwind romance with four years ago, is also among the hostages. From this moment of discovery and the rescue that ensues, Warren takes her readers on a wild ride through terror-laced jungles to the palace of local royalty, before finally returning to the brutal beauty of Alaska. Like its predecessor, Sunburst is a second chance romance. Whereas Sunrise was all about forgiveness, this book is more about conquering the fears that live in the core of yourself. It’s about trusting God with the uncertainty of your future, and believing that He has good plans, even when you can’t see them. Ranger and Noemi were both instantly compelling characters. I was especially enamored with Noemi from the moment she stepped onto the page. This woman is fierce. The only daughter of a Navy SEAL Master Chief, she had a level of training to her early years that most soldiers don’t experience until boot camp. This makes her incredibly independent, and she has a lot of (well-founded) faith in herself. What she doesn’t have faith in is her worth to others, and it is this belief that she’s not worth the trouble of others that underpins her story. And we see the other side of her family, the Nigerian heritage from her mother, come into play, as well. The actual plot here was tense, as Ranger and Noemi were on the run from terrorists. This plot also laid more groundwork for Sundown, the final installment in the trilogy. As with Sunrise, there was a strong sense of place that Warren depicted beautifully. I’ve grown to love her writing. Her pacing and tension, her character growth and relationship development, are all incredibly engaging. She also does a wonderful job weaving in her faith elements. If Sunrise was about God’s forgiveness, Sunburst was about God’s care and compassion for those who don’t feel deserving of it. It was beautifully handled. There are a couple of writing quirks that I don’t love (like the overuse of certain words), but they’re very subjective. I’m thrilled to have found Warren’s work. She scratches an itch for me that I didn’t realize I was missing. There are authors whose books I used to love who told very similar stories with similar characters and dynamics, but whose content I now try to avoid. Warren has given me all the things I miss without the guilt I used to feel after reading those books. Not only do I have her entire backlog to work through, I can now search for similar authors, as well. I didn’t realize that Christian stories of this caliber existed in this genre, and I’m thrilled to know that they do. One word of caution: If you pick up this book, make sure that you have Sundown on hand. Talk about a cliffhanger!

Lots of action and romance are a big part of Sunburst by Susan May Warren, the second book in the Sky King Ranch series. Sunburst starts out with both romance and action. This book flips back and forth a bit between the beginnings of a relationship that got cut short between former Navy SEAL Ranger Kingston and Noemi Sutton. They met and spent two weeks dating and getting to know each other in Florida. Now Ranger is in Nigeria trying to save his brother Colt, and also Noemi as he quickly discovered, in Nigeria. From there, the book is constant action--with back and forth relationship between Noemi and Ranger. I enjoyed Sunburst as a whole. It is full of action that kept me turning pages. There are rich descriptions of the area, the culture and the foods in Nigeria that I enjoyed. I also liked the romantic wedding that took place in Nigeria--even though it was just part of "the operation." At the same time, I did get a bit frustrated with the characters as they kept going back and forth with communication struggles and fears that kept holding them back from each other and deciding if they wanted to make their Nigerian wedding permanent. I did like the ending though--and of course, I look forward to the next book as there are some cliffhangers as Sunburst ends. As a Christian, I really liked the talk that Ranger's dad had with him near the end. I also liked how God was working in both Noemi and Ranger's life to help them heal in their struggles. He was also working in the Kingston family as there is healing and reconciliation in some relationships. I am now anxiously awaiting Sundown as Warren not only leaves us with cliffhangers but also gives us a preview of that book at the end of this one. I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishing through Interviews and Reviews. All opinions within this review are my own.

This book hooked me from the first page and I could not put it down! The action was intense and page turning while the relationships were so interesting and believable. I loved how Noemi was fearless and creative with everything that was thrown at her. Ranger was fantastic as well. He worked so hard to keep the women safe while being injured. There were so many things to love about these characters and plot but some of my favourites were the disability rep, a favourite trope (Spoiler!), the Nigerian culture, and strong developed characters. I loved the whole reading experience! I received an arc via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

Sky King Ranch Book# 2 In this second installment Ranger Kingston heads to Nigeria with a team of fellow former Navy Seal to save a group of hostages. Among whom, are his brother Colt and Noemi Sutton, an aid worker he had met years earlier. Things do not go smoothly when a 15 year old girl is recaptured after a short escape. Determined to save everyone, Ranger along with Noemi navigate rough terrain to rescue the girl and make their escape. My thoughts: I have mixed feelings about this story globe-trotting romance where the only solution to make a final escape from Nigeria is to pose as husband and wife. All through the story we see two love birds refusing to acknowledge their deep love for each one that has been germinating since the first day they met years ago while on a holiday trip in Key West. They pussyfoot around and pussyfoot around all the time. I just wanted to shake both of them to go on with it. The story moves along in flashbacks or memories then suddenly change to the present. This switch back on forth did not always register well and I seemed thrown out of kilter and needed to reread some times. I did not fully enjoy this story although we do have a lot of action to keep us interested especially when the trio were dodging bullets trying not to fall back in the hands of their pursuers. On a high note, the Nigerian culture is well said and done. The traditional wedding in Nigeria is lively and colourfully and is told with all the traditions and some pidgin to place us in middle of the excitement. I loved this part. I received this book through the Early Reviewers Program in exchange for an honest review.
Finally homestead, Ranger and Noemi still couldn’t evade who ever were after them and the chase continued....oh boy. Yes, like the previous novel it ends on a cliff hanger....what is next....The novel also includes a lot of Christian values and beliefs and it may not gel with everyone but again ignore this if you do not approve.

“Pain is just weakness leaving the body.” This one is an adrenaline rush! Warren has crafted a high-stakes, globetrotting romantic adventure set against the backdrop of culturally rich Nigeria and the wild frontier of Alaska. It starts off with Ranger Kingston, a former Navy SEAL, who heads to Nigeria to save his brother, Colt, and an aid worker, Noemi Sutton, who have been kidnapped by terrorists. Your heart will be pounding as you read about hostage situations, flying bullets, Boko Haram infiltrations, and the SEAL rescue attempts. I loved this five-star reading experience because Warren took me deep inside the world of Navy SEALS and to a country I’ve never visited. Warren’s Christian character development is second to none! She crafts her characters so that they continually push themselves towards introspection and then effortlessly allows us to see how they deal with inner struggles brought about by their external situations. The concept of being shaped and molded by God in the heat of the battle is appealing to me. That’s real life! Ranger’s exploration of God’s abandonment and his lack of trust felt so authentic. Warren reminds readers of the SEAL phrase “The only easy day was yesterday,’ and that if we are prepared and ready to face our battles head-on, we can, with God’s help, turn every battle into a victory. I needed to read that today. Warren’s ability to surprise me with her character’s actions never fails. Just when I’m convinced what direction the story is going to take next, her characters stubbornly stomp off in the opposite direction! I love following them and seeing how they work out their redemption, trust and reliance on faith for themselves. My favourite line, and one I’ll not forget, is “every time my world gets darker, I see God more.” As I stood on the deck tonight sailing towards Copper Mountain, I looked up at the clear sky, thought of Ranger and was reminded of this revelation. The Kingston boys are dreamy, but Noemi is my new favourite character. I loved the tension and the vulnerability and how she and Kingston played off each other. I see a lot of myself in Noemi! I enjoyed the references to her culture and am now dying to try jollof rice, owho soup, akara, chin chin, and fufu. Most of all, I loved the authentic touches of pidgin English. I’ve kept one for my own use: “Heaven almighty, Gon don butta my bread!” Warren writes to evoke empathy and challenges us to overcome fear. Her transitions to different points of view and different plot lines kept me on my toes. As we continue our sail towards Copper Mountain on our Alaskan cruise, I’m watching out for Roy. If I see him, I’ll be sure to run in the opposite direction! I was gifted this advance copy by the author and publishers and was under no obligation to provide a review.

This series has been such a treat! One thing that bugs me about some romances (and this happens between Noemi & Ranger) is when the characters misunderstand someone’s statement or intentions to a life-changing level. Not once in my dating/engagement relationship with my husband did I ever misunderstand him to the point of running off/giving up/etc. if I felt that something crazy was said, we just talked about it. If you’re to the point of loving someone enough to MARRY them, you should be to the point of talking out a misunderstanding. I know it makes for a climactic moment in stories, but it also sets a unhealthy precedent. Just talk, okay people? Okay, rant over. Libby doesn’t have the third book in this series, and I’m desperate to get my hands on it!! This series had been a thrill.
They are the kind of book you just want to devour in one sitting.
I really liked Ranger and Noemi’s story. Their romance was dramatic without being annoying. Noemi’s fun and flirty personality made her a dramatic contrast to Ranger’s no-nonsense attitude.
The setting was one of the most intriguing parts of the book. I loved reading about the vibrant tastes and colors and textures of Nigeria.
I’m a sucker for a marriage of convenience story. This one felt realistic, especially for the modern timeframe.
Auntie Precious and Uncle Efe were well fleshed out, and I enjoyed the return of Barry, Echo, and Dodge.

Susan May Warren's new book treats readers to quite an adventure, as they're transported to a terrorist camp in Nigeria and then back to Sky King Ranch in beautiful Alaska. Ranger Kingston is on a rescue mission, but his own heart may need rescuing after he and Noemi Sutton find each other again. A pretend marriage becomes necessary for survival but the special physical chemistry and deep emotional bond between Ranger and Noemi make it very real in appearance. Can their already tender hearts endure another goodbye? Warren has a unique talent for creating characters to cheer for, romance that leaves us yearning for more, and adventures that keep us on the edge of our seats! She also ministers to readers spiritually with the relevant faith messages that she weaves into all of her stories. I thoroughly enjoyed Sunburst and I'm excited to read book 3 of the Sky King Ranch series. I received a review copy from the author and from Revell via Interviews and Reviews. These are my honest thoughts.

I can always count on this author to take me for quite a ride when I read one of her adventure-suspense books! The setting of Nigeria was fascinating and I loved the things I learned about the people and culture there. The danger felt so real and I can't imagine being in those circumstances. The flashbacks to Ranger and Noemi's first meeting and brief relationship were foundational to understanding their current tension and angst, and their amazing chemistry. I loved how their personalities complemented each other in the best ways. There is also an inspirational thread as both Ranger and Noemi find and strengthen their faith in God and each other. While they were on the run, we have another continuing story in Alaska with the woman rescued from the blizzard and her ties to the Russians. By the end of the book I could start to make out some of the puzzle pieces to the bigger picture and I can't wait for the next book to see how they fit together and especially Colt and Tae's romance! This story was so good! I was captivated starting with the gorgeous cover! I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this story from the chemistry between Noemi and Ranger, the action, and the pops of humor that were spread throughout. I also love seeing how the triplets relationships are mending and growing. I loved Noemi and Ranger! Their chemistry leapt off the page and their banter was perfect. I was rooting for them all the way! The action was perfectly paced and unexpected at times (which I always love!), and there was a scene at the end that, well let’s just say I would definitely trust having these brothers protect my back! Sunburst is book 2 of the Sky King Ranch trilogy. While I think it would be more fulfilling to read Sunrise first because of the family dynamics, I do think you could easily read this one as a standalone. I cannot wait for the final story, Sunset, which will be about Colt. Ms. Warren has really peaked my interest with this story! I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. The faith thread is light.

Bachelor Ranger Kingston is about to be released from the military, but his last assignment is to rescue three people, including his brother, who are hostages in Nigeria. Imagine his surprise when another is Noemi Sutton a young woman he'd met on a leave and for whom he had feelings. Will they get out alive, will Noemi rekindle those feelings, and what will Ranger do when he leaves the military? The descriptions of Nigeria were so well done that it was obvious Warren had done a lot of research. With plenty of suspense, a touch of humor and a breath of romance, Warren made the second of the Kingston triplet brothers come to life. He was definitely another swoonworthy hero; yet he and Noemi also found their entire adventure brought them a stronger faith. Looking forward to reading about Colt the last of the Kingston triplets and his adventure.

Sunburst by Susan May Warren moves from the wilds of Alaska to the grit and heat of Nigeria. Picking up from where Sunrise ended, Ranger discovers his brother, Colt, has been taken captive in Nigeria and goes after him. But he finds himself in trouble – Noemi Sutton, a love from his past, has also been captured. He and Noemi wind up stranded, and in order to get out of the country, they have to pose as husband and wife. This is now my new favorite Susan May Warren novel! I love the scenery of Nigeria, and the book is filled with so much culture and visual images that it made me feel like I’ve been there. But Warren’s storytelling is always all about the characters. Range and Noemi’s chemistry is tangible, and the drama of their plight to get out of the country had me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next installment of the Kingston brothers. I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. This was another great suspense by Susan May Warren, action packed with a lot of thrilling scenes and twists. I loved every action and suspenseful scene and the chemistry between Noemi and Ranger was strong. I enjoyed the flash backs to Noemi and Ranger's relationship 4 years ago, so that the reader could see how their relationship developed and what went wrong, because the feeling between the two was still clearly strong. He thought she'd slow him down. He could barely keep up with her. The mystery/suspense thread continues from book one, so I would recommend reading the series in order, just to get the full back story of what happened and why the relationship between the three brothers are strained. What I always love about this author's books is the way she waves the spiritual thread within the story, which never makes it sound preachy but just fit. I found the same again with this book. You've always spent your life looking forward, the destination in mind. But faith is stepping forward without knowing the destination. Highly recommended to fans of Susan May Warren and romantic suspense. *I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.*

I really enjoyed this second installment of the Sky King series by Susan May Warren. A lot more excitement and intrigue in this book compared to the first one, at least for me. In this book we follow Noemi and Ranger, they met and fell in love but decided to call it quits. Until Ranger is sent on a mission to rescue her in Africa from kidnappers. What follows is a high speed chase of bad guys, a fake dating/marriage trope, and new and old family coming together. I really like the faith content in this series so far, I felt there was a little less of that in this book but was happy to see it still there. Also the fact that Susan May Warren got a lot of inspiration and research ideas from her daughter-in-law, I just thought was so cool. These books each follow different characters, but there is an underlying mystery that links them all together. I can't wait to read the next book and find out what happens. *thank you to Baker Publishing for a copy to review.

You know those books you finish and immediately want to reread? Sunburst was this for me. Book two in the Sky King Ranch series is bursting with action and adventure, banter, mystery, culture and heart. In signature Susie May style, Sunburst has left me with SO MANY QUESTIONS and dying for book three.

I loved the first book in this series, SUNRISE, so much. So so much. It was set in Alaska, and Alaska was very much one of the main characters of the book, which is a testament to the author’s descriptive powers. So I was very excited to get this book. This one is initially set in Nigeria. Ranger and his brother, Dodge, are there running reconnaissance on a terrorist camp, where the third brother, Colt, is being held, along with several other prisoners, after having been kidnapped. One of the women prisoners makes a break for it, unknowingly giving Ranger and his team the opportunity to swoop in and effect a rescue. Ranger is shocked when he realizes that woman is Noemi, who he knew several years ago. As with Alaska, the author provides a wonderfully evocative depiction of Nigeria, from the jungles, to the food, to a traditional Nigerian wedding. Though it’s a wonder Ranger could function day to day what with the multitude of injuries he sustains along the way. But I loved him as much as I had loved Dodge in the first book, as much as I know I will love Colt when his book comes out. And Noemi was a fiercely fascinating woman, strong and independent. The narrative was a bit more...bouncy, for lack of a better word, than I remember from the first book, especially when the point of view was Noemi’s. Which was good, it was in keeping with Noemi’s character. There were also many, many, many instances of both Noemi and Ranger recalling past conversations or comments, with those lines interspersed in italics, which got tiring, especially the lines that were constantly repeated. For instance, in the first chapter, which describes Ranger and Noemi’s first meeting and swift relationship, they agree to meet somewhere, and Ranger says “I will find you”. That line was brought back time and time again, and yes, it has significance later, but it, along with all the other instances, got tiring. Regardless, while I think I liked SUNRISE a little better, because I already had a thing for Alaska before I read it, I loved this book. I can’t wait for SUNDOWN, the third book, and I have got to hunt down more of this author’s work. *I received a free copy of this book from the author and have voluntarily reviewed it*
